Photo Restoration Information
CAN MY PHOTO BE RESTORED?
A photograph can generally be restored unless it is out of focus or there are large areas of a persons face completely missing. Fixable conditions include stains, rips, wrinkles, being faded and even missing small to medium size sections. All my work is done on a new copy, so your original is returned to you unchanged.

HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE?
New technology allows a skilled artist to use what might be called an electronic airbrush (digitalizing tablet), in conjuction with software and a computer to bring old photos back to life. It is tedious work requiring many hours to finish, but the amazing results are well worth the expense. Without this kind of service available, a memory could be lost forever.

IS IT SAFE TO SEND MY ORIGINAL IN THE MAIL?
None of my customers has ever had their original lost in the mail. It's actually more likely to be lost forever if it's not restored before it fades away completely! But for added peace of mind, it costs very little extra to send it insured from the post office.

WHY SHOULD I CHOOSE YOU OVER SOMEONE ELSE?
Because I'm a photographer, and I love being a "photo doctor". And I think it shows in the finished picture. I always strive for excellence because for me, getting compliments is just as rewarding as getting paid.

Photo Restoration Pricing
Below is a guide for some of my basic services. I'll be happy to give you a FREE estimate for your specific case. Please E-mail Me.

MINOR RESTORATION:
Includes removal of a few short minor scratches or spots, removal of a few minor blemishes, removal of red-eye, removal of a small tattoo, minor skin blending, and a slight increase in contrast.
In focus, no missing pieces.....$30

MEDIUM RESTORATION:
Includes color adjustments, faded areas, removal of normal amounts of scratches, larger spots or blemishes, rough or torn edges but not on subjects, some color correction including addition or accentuation of sepia toning.....$45

MAJOR RESTORATION:
All of the above plus missing pieces, torn edges, facial reconstruction, complex object or person elimination, *stuck to glass, **scotch tape, marks, cracks and creases.....$50 to $75

EXTREME TO IMPOSSIBLE RESTORATION:
Includes any massive corrections in excess of those described or other corrections not listed, removal of an excessive amount of scratches, cracks, creases and stains in all areas.....$95 to $125

*It is very important not to try to remove the portion of the photo that is stuck to the glass, from the glass...broken or not.
**A very common problem is scotch tape on the front of the photo. Trying to remove the tape will only add to the difficulty of restoring it.

Enlarging a very small photo like a 3x4" to an 8x10" will usually bring it into the Major Restoration category. Many undetcted flaws in the smaller image will be very apparent when enlarged. Also, please note that some small snapshots simply lack enough detail to be reproduced much larger than the original. I always scan images at the highest possible resolution to ensure that we get as many details as possible. We can always discuss what you want done....and make every effort to make it affordable.

MORE ABOUT PRICING:
All quoted prices include one print of any size you choose, up to an 8 x 10. Extra prints are $15.00. A separate scanning fee is not charged. Restoration fees begin at $28. Most restorations will cost between $45 and $85. You will be informed of the exact price before the work is initiated, either by E-mail or regular US mail. To obtain a faster quote, you may send a small copy of your work attatched to an E-mail. Please keep the file size under 500Kb and save it as a JPEG or TIFF file. This is for a price quote only. If you would like to E-mail me your photo for actual restoration, it must be scanned at 300dpi. I will mail your finished print via US mail, and I will keep a permanent file on a high quality CD for any future orders. Most restorations can be completed within a two week period. Expedited service is available for a small fee. Postage and handling of a finished print (without original enclosed) is $5.95.
